Tucked away in Broward County, Florida is a little utopia called Pembroke Pines. Though it may be small, the city has earned itself a bigger reputation than most, having been voted one of the best cities in the United States to live in. With a population just a hair below 147,000, Pembroke Pines has all the charm of small town Florida without losing any of the luxuries of the city.
Those visiting Pembroke Pines this April will find themselves in for a treat nicer than the usual, as the city celebrates with its annual Pembroke Pines Fair. For 11 days every year, the city gathers together to celebrate community with a variety of events to entertain all visitors.
With family events, the whole family can have a good time. Remember to bring the kids to the Carnival, which will run all festival long with rides and games to keep even the crankiest toddler entertained. There are pre-sale deals available for tickets, so if you're planning to go on more than a few days, take advantage of the sale now.
Other major festivities include the 50th Anniversary Celebration Parade to kick the opening weekend off in April, as well as a big fireworks display one week later on the 17th to close things out with a bang. Both events are of course free, so bring the whole family out and join the celebration.
No festival would be complete without some musical entertainment, and this years festival is so jammed packed with talent, you'd think a corporate event planner had pulled them together! Friday evening showcases the talents of both the Nostalgia Band and Jimmy Stowe and the Stowaways. Saturday sees the Livesays take the Main Stage, followed by electrifying country singer Keith Anderson. Up and comer Nick Merico wows the crowd the following Friday, and to wrap things up is Chris MacDonald, who'll entertain the audience with a tribute performance to one of America's greatest musical icons, Elvis Presley.
Other events include the Mayor Gold Tournament April 9 in the day and Military Night that evening, the Police and Fire Expo April 16, Little Miss Sweetheart Pageant April 17, and the Farmers Market Sunday the 18th. With events and festivities stronger than lead glass to celebrate Pembroke Pines' 50th Birthday, there's no better time to pay this little gem a visit.
