the best cities to live in America. Its population is just above one hundred
and fifty thousand and it is the second most populous city in Broward Country.
The city is known for its "All American" image and its great schooling.
Whether you are someone who is looking to retire or are planning to pick up
your business and move across the country, Pembroke Pines
may be the perfect place for you.
Pembroke Pines originally started as a mass of agricultural land that was occupied
by dairy farmers. Eventually, after the Second World War, it grew significantly
as servicemen started to retire. In 1960, residents of Pembroke Pines held an
election and the small town became a city. The city gradually grew when a maximum
security prison offering many programs was put in place and many different highways
were developed, allowing easy access to the city causing it to nearly double
in size. After Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Miami residents were forced to move
their families northward to Broward Country, many of which decided to settle in Pembroke Pines. The resulting
boom ranked the city third in a list of the fastest growing cities in the United
States.
The rise in population called for more schools in the Florida city. As more
and more schools were being designed and built, Pembroke Pines developed a charter
school system, which eventually became the largest in the county. Currently
there are six public high schools, five middle schools, thirteen elementary
schools, and four post secondary institutions. Thus, making Pembroke Pines the
perfect place to move your family and either your day spa, New Jersey pizza
shop, or office supply business.
Over the last decade, a number of hurricanes have hit Pembroke Pines and its
surrounding areas and thus affected the city and its residents. Hurricane Irene
shed approximately sixteen inches upon the city, while Hurricanes Frances and
Jeanne brought tropical storms and left only minor tree and shrub damage. More
recently, Pembroke was one of the unfortunate cities to be struck by Hurricane
Katrina. In her wake, she left the city powerless, caused significant shrub
and tree damage, and destroyed many gates around homes and even tore the roofs
off of many homes. If you are planning to quit your job and move to Pembroke Pines, then preparing for hurricane season is definitely something
that you should look into.
Pembroke Pines generally maintains warm weather, with a clear and sunny sky.
But, as said above, it is not unknown to see a hurricane here and there, so
make sure you prepare your home and have lots of umbrellas handy.
